About George Daniel:
George Daniel is a distinguished figure in the fly fishing world, known for his profound influence on American fly fishing and his role as a seasoned educator and mentor. He began his journey with fly fishing at a very young age in Potter County, Pennsylvania, where he had the opportunity to practice in a native brook trout fishery reserved for children. His deep engagement with the sport from such a young age paved the way for him to become a two-time US National Fly Fishing Champion and to achieve significant recognition on the international stage.
George Danel's Education and Mentoring Path:
George's passion extends beyond fishing itself to the education and mentoring of others. He frequently gives lectures and seminars at clubs and fly fishing shows nationwide, aiming to enhance the skills of fellow anglers. George has also been a coach and mentor to the USA Youth Fly Fishing Team. His book, Fly Fishing Evolution: Advanced Strategies for Dry Fly, Nymph, and Streamer Fishing, showcases innovative techniques and strategies that he has mastered over the years, helping anglers of all levels adapt to various fishing conditions and improve their catches. In addition, he has published some of my favorite books like, Dynamic Nymphing, Strip Set among others.
George the Professor:
At Penn State University, George contributes to the fly fishing education of students through an advanced course, where he offers hands-on instruction during guided trips. This not only helps students understand the technical aspects of fly fishing, such as knot tying and fish behavior but also develops their ability to spot fish effectively. Through his teaching, George emphasizes the importance of helping others excel in the sport, ensuring his legacy influences future generations of fly fishers. His commitment to fly fishing education ensures that the art and sport of fly fishing continue to thrive and evolve, nurtured by his dedication and expertise.
I am a huge fan of George Daniel and the way he teaches. When I first started I whitnesed a shop session on euro style nymphing that changed the way understood and how I fished water. I've created this playlist of videos for you so you don't have to do the research yourself.
