Winter is the best fishing of your year
Here's the thing about a saltwater trip: almost nobody misses out because they couldn't afford it. They miss out because they thought about it in January, for a trip they needed to book in September.
The lodges that matter are small — twelve rods, sixteen rods, sometimes eight. The good December-through-April weeks get claimed months ahead, usually by people who fished them last year and rebooked on the dock. What's left is what you're choosing from, and it's rarely the best tide.
This planner is built backwards from that. Not ten dreamy photos — which water actually fits the angler you are right now, what a week genuinely costs when you add up all of it, and when you have to commit to get the week you want.
A look inside
Belize
The best all-around introduction to saltwater fly fishing there is — wadeable flats you can learn on, permit water that's genuinely world-class, and the easiest sell to a partner who doesn't fish.
The Bahamas
The bonefish capital, and close enough that a long weekend works. Miles of hard-bottom wadeable flats — you spend the day walking and hunting rather than sitting.
Christmas Island
Flats that run to the horizon and bonefish in numbers that stop feeling scarce. The place an average caster comes home a good one, purely from repetition.
