Tip

Tip: Use a reach cast to defeat drag in conflicting currents

How to do it: Reach the rod to one side during the cast to place slack where currents differ, keeping the fly drifting naturally

Mistake it fixes: Letting drag ruin the drift

Why it works: Drag is when current pulls line faster than the fly, making it move unnaturally. A reach cast pre-places slack so the fly can drift at current speed longer.

When it matters most: Dry fly, complex currents
