Fly Fishing Location Details: Every State and Destination

Location Details is the Fly Fishing Insider Podcast map of where to fly fish, state by state and country by country. Each page covers the top waters, best months, licence rules, guides and lodges we vouch for, and tips from podcast guests who fish there, with new locations added every week.

I built these pages because the question I get most is some version of "where should I go, and who should I fish with when I get there?" Every location page answers it the same way: real season timing, the regulations that will actually shape your week, published starting prices instead of guesses, and the guides, lodges and outfitters we would put our own name behind. Where a guide or lodge is FFIP Certified, you book direct with them and we take no commission.

Start with a region below. If the place you want isn't written up yet, that doesn't mean we can't help: our destination guides go deep on ten fisheries, and through Frontiers International Travel we can plan trips to roughly 250 lodges worldwide.

How Do You Choose Where to Fly Fish?

Choose by the cast you can make today and the fish you want most, then pick the week. Season decides whether the fish are even there; regulations decide what your week actually looks like; cost comes last. A marginal week at a great fishery is a more common mistake than a peak week at a good one. Each location page puts those three things in one place so you can compare.

Are You a Guide, Lodge, Fly Tyer or Rod Builder?

Every location page carries a Book a Local Pro section and a Custom Flies and Rods section. If you guide, run a lodge or outfit anglers in one of these places, get in front of the people planning a trip there.
