Tip

Tip: Extend the drift by feeding line, using up-and-down feeds

How to do it: After a reach cast, feed line out during the drift, preferably with up-and-down movements, starting well above the fish so the fly travels down to it

Mistake it fixes: Ending the drift too soon

Why it works: A short drift may end before the fly reaches the fish or before the fish rises on its rhythm. Feeding line extends the natural drift window.

When it matters most: Dry fly, long drifts
