How to do it: Slow everything down to a controlled swing and let the fly present slowly, rather than speeding up or stripping to trigger a fish
Mistake it fixes: Moving the fly too fast
Why it works: Steelhead will take a slowly presented fly that looks natural and unthreatening. A fast fly can look wrong and pass the holding zone too quickly.
