Tip
Tip: Presentation beats pattern: a clean drift with an average fly beats a sloppy drift with a perfect imitation
How to do it: Focus first on drift quality, then on pattern, because a natural drift sells any reasonable fly
Mistake it fixes: Prioritising perfect imitation over drift quality
Why it works: Trout reject flies that move unnaturally, regardless of pattern accuracy. A clean drift makes an average fly look like real food.
When it matters most: All fly fishing
