How Frontiers Books Your Fishing Lodge

What Frontiers Handles

How Frontiers Books Your Fishing Lodge

When you book through Fly Fishing Insider Podcast, Frontiers International Travel makes the lodge reservation for you in-house and advises you on which week to fish. Frontiers has booked sporting trips since 1969, its staff visit the lodges in person, and that advice comes with no surcharge over booking the lodge direct.

What does Frontiers do when it books your lodge?

Frontiers handles the reservation itself, along with the rest of the trip: flights, ground transfers, extensions and travel protection are all booked in-house by the same team. Before you leave, Frontiers sends a pre-trip packet covering packing and logistics, so you arrive knowing what the lodge expects.

How does Frontiers help you pick the right week?

Fishing lodges sell weeks, not nights, and the week you choose decides the fishing. Tides, water levels, hatches and fish migrations all move through a season. Frontiers says it helped pioneer many of today's saltwater flats destinations, including the Yucatan, Christmas Island, Belize, the Bahamas and the Seychelles, and its staff fish the lodges and publish "From the Field" trip reports. That first-hand knowledge is what turns a good lodge into the right week at that lodge.

Frontiers describes this as impartial advice you will not get from a lodge directly; a lodge sells its own weeks, while Frontiers compares many. Frontiers also occasionally lists specific open weeks at partner lodges when space comes up.

Does booking through Frontiers cost more than booking the lodge direct?

No. Frontiers states that it adds no surcharge for its advice, and booking through our introduction costs the same as going to Frontiers yourself. Fly Fishing Insider Podcast may receive a referral fee from Frontiers, at no extra cost to you.

When do I pay, and what if I cancel?

Deposits, final payment dates and cancellation terms are set by each lodge and vary widely, and many lodge deposits are non-refundable. Your Frontiers specialist will give you the exact terms for your lodge and week in writing before you commit. Read them, and consider travel protection from the day you pay your deposit.

Questions to Ask Your Frontiers Specialist

  • Which weeks are best for the species and fishing style I want, and why?
  • Has a Frontiers staff member fished this lodge, and when?
  • What is the deposit, when is the balance due, and what are the cancellation terms?
  • What exactly does the rate include? (See What Does a Fly Fishing Lodge Rate Include?)
